Amazon is a huge and profitable platform for affiliates. In the past as an affiliate, you could create micro niche sites based on a specific niche subject or even one single product to make a lot of money. However, you can no longer make money this way as Google regards micro niche sites as spam sites.
For you to succeed in Amazon affiliate marketing, you need to focus on wider niches and have a lot more products that you can potentially sell. Google has also cracked down on review sites which can no longer rank on the search engine.
The method Google prefers is creating a real website with real content and real benefits to your visitors. You need only one or a few domains in a wider niche.
Choice of Niche
Firstly, find a niche that has voracious buyers without much competition. This is the difficult part because most markets with voracious buyers are very competitive.
Visit DIYReady.com who have a niche DIY that is broad enough and has a huge number of topics they can focus on within the DIY spectrum. You want something broad - but not too broad - with voracious buyers and fans that are easy to locate.
Building the Website
I recommend the use of WordPress to build your website because it’s easy, quick, has built-in SEO, and has tons of customization options. You need the following:
Domain name, purchased through Namecheap or other registrars Hosting, purchased through HostGator, or another firm WordPress, free and often included in hosting A WordPress theme, free or paid.
Content Creation
You can create content for the site yourself, or hire an agent to do it for you. The content on your site must attract the right types of traffic and grab and keep their attention and interest.
Content Quality: Web surfers are more aware of what quality content should be and Google also uses quality as a ranking factor. In addition, Google also pays attention to the average length of time a visitor spends on your site, and whether or not they visit other pages of your site.
Ensure you include relevant images in your articles as images are vitally important these days. Not only do they make your article more interesting to visitors, but they also provide a great way to let people share your content on social media and bring you more traffic.
Content-Length: In the eyes of Google the length of your content is equivalent to its quality. While the stats show that the average surfer these days has a very short attention span, Google insists that very long content is “quality” and short content is not.
Generally, articles should be at least 500 words, and up to 3,000 or longer in some cases.
Content Variety: To be successful ensure you create a variety of content, including different forms of media such as videos, slideshows, and even downloads. You don’t have to create videos yourself but can embed other people’s videos on your pages.
Affiliate Products
After creating 10 articles or more, it’s time to start adding some affiliate links. Don’t add affiliate links in every single article. Try to demonstrate the use of the product in some way without making your post seem like nothing but an ad. Then you could provide an affiliate link to the product at the end of your article.
Make sure you promote products at a wide range of prices. If for instance you only promote products over $100 your visitors will grow tired of it. You don’t need to be afraid of the minimal commission you receive when you promote a $5 item as many people may end up ordering more products than just that $5 commission.
Traffic Generation
The tricky part of this process is finding traffic though even that isn’t particularly difficult once you understand the various social media outlets and how they work. It's better for you to have a presence on the prominent social media sites, including:
YouTube
Snapchat
If you want to learn how to use social media for effective website promotion, I recommend checking out: http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com. This site has many articles and tutorials to help you get started on social media.
There are three sites you should focus on in the beginning:
Facebook: This is the giant of social media. It’s important to get a fan page created for your website immediately.
Pinterest: Few sites can bring more traffic than Pinterest, especially if you use it correctly. Post often, post relevant content that is likely to be re-pinned a lot and follow as many accounts relevant to your niche as you can.
Instagram: You may have expected Twitter (now X) to be the third site, but I’ve found Instagram a lot more effective than Twitter. Just follow relevant users, like and comment on their content, and post great images regularly with relevant hashtags. Twitter is probably the next one you should focus on, followed by YouTube, and then others like Snapchat.
